Choose a dining table you love

First consider how many people you want to seat. If you don’t have lots of room, try an extendable table. Then consider shape – should you go for round, rectangular or oval? This all depends on the size and shape of your room. Finally, consider what happens at the table – do you use it for casual meals, festive occasions, working from home, studying, sorting, or surfing? Choose a material that will suit your lifestyle for years to come.

Find a comfortable chair

Do you prefer upholstered or non-upholstered chairs? And what about foldable, stackable, or mix-and-match? It all comes down to your needs, preferred comfort level and the style you like. Changeable covers are easy to wash, replace or repair, and also offer a quick way to update your style. Add a couple of extra stools or a bench for when you need to squeeze in a few more around the table.

Frame your dining area with a rug

Complete your dining spot with an easy-to-clean rug so you can wipe away food spills in a flash. It’ll also add a sense of warmth and does a good job at dampening sound. Make sure it’s flatwoven and durable, and keep in mind that the carpeted area should be large enough to accommodate the table and all the chairs so they don’t catch on the edge.

Set the atmosphere with lighting

So what should you think about when looking for new lamps for your dining area? Consider form, shape and material. Also consider the convenience of using smart lighting to instantly create the right atmosphere for every occasion. Look for lighting that reproduces the right colors, prevents glare and makes it possible to carry out lots of different activities at the table. Will you be working, or are you planning a romantic meal for two? There’s a light for every need and activity.
