This is the perfect pieceLavellThis is the perfect piece to add to your system great sustainability.5
Highly recommendKRYSTENEasy to put together. Simple clean lines. Looks great.5
Fits beautifully into system andSarahFits beautifully into system and a welcome addition to my space. Very sturdy.5
Great ‘Blank Canvas’ piece!BRIAN C.This cabinet exceeded my expectations quite a bit. Easy to assemble, yes. True to measurement, sure. But the real benefit to this cabinet is the fact that it’s literally a ‘blank canvas’! It can be any color, design, or art piece you want it to be. I know IKEA offers a few pieces in the unfinished wood, but perhaps they need to offer more! I love it when the only limit a piece has is what I can create WITH it.5
IF YOU DON’T MIND THE GAPMichelle T.Hopefully you have level floors and don’t mind the ~1/2 inch gap the doors have on this IVAR storage unit. That being said I highly recommend. All but the backside of this product is solid pine wood (back is particle board) so the price is great for this type of wood, however I was unaware once assembled the doors have a rather noticeable gap. After I read several reviews everyone talks about this - so FYI it’s true. To add to the gap, if your floors are not perfectly level (as many are not) the doors may hang slightly open/drag upon opening as this piece sits pretty flush to the floor. Assembly time was about :35. Cheers.3
Even after following exact instructionsChandniEven after following exact instructions the door alignment did not come out right. Not worth the money1

Love it!AlissaI bought 4 and added legs to them to use in my art studio as a credenza. It’s sturdy, looks and functions great. So happy with my purchase. It was easy to assemble…took about 30 mins to assemble each with the addition of legs. There is the infamous gap (about 1/4 of an inch) between the cabinet doors, but it doesn’t bother me. Not a complaint about the cabinet, but I just wish there was an ikea closer to me…I drove 7 hours (round trip) to purchase because they were not able to ship this item.5
Nice DIYWeerasakConvenient that it’s sanded and prepped for a paint job, however this was very difficult to find in store (wouldn’t ship to me online). I was lucky enough to grab the last one at my store and unfortunately it came with dents on a lot of the corners. Some minor issues I had was that the sides doesn’t sit flush/flat against each other, one door is slightly higher than the other, and top board is not leveled. I was going to return it, but considering how hard it was to find it I kept it. I do think it is a little pricey for what it is. This is a good product for a DIY and I recommend getting it.There’s some details as stated above that Ikea should fix. My DIY did turn out great though.4
Ivar cabinetYvette D.It was just what I needed. Thank goodness I found one before they are all gone, as IVAR is discontinued. What a shame, they are a great product.5
Great for my officeKennaWas a bit disappointed in the amount of gap between the doors. I even played with the door hinges to lessen it, may just need to buy better (adjustable hinges). But once painted and legs added - I think it’ll look great in my office.4

Purchased 2 Ivar cabinets toCarolynPurchased 2 Ivar cabinets to use together as a buffet. I will be painting them and mounting on the wall. I just wish there was not an opening between the doors. Other than that I love these cabinets.5
great cabinetJoanLove the solid pine and rustic look. I stained all the pieces grey toned beige after using wood conditioner, then a coat of polyurethane and finally wax. Only then did I put the pieces together with ease. For all those who complained about the opening in front, page 20 of the instruction booklet shows how to adjust; however, "U Tube" has many clips showing exactly how the doors can be brought closer together which I did once I got the hang of it. Just type in Ikea Ivar cabinet.5
OkayValerieI wish the doors would sit more flush. Even after messing with hinges (which instructions don't detail out - I had to YouTube) there is still a tiny gap between the doors which bothers me. Wood quality is good and these are sturdy just not as clean of a look as I was hoping for.3
Perfect for craftsdoro01The Ivar system, including these cabinets, are simply the best to organize my crafts area.5
Hard to put togetherLlvbreAfter putting this cabinet together I am reaching out to see if anyone else here is in search of a support group because of how defeated this cabinet made you feel2
Okay, and does the job, but door gap is weird.katetakI'd be totally happy with this cabinet, it is solid and affordable and works. However, there is a strange half-inch gap between the doors. It isn't apparent in the website photos, as they are shot from an angle.4
Perfect cabinetsJudyCliffI love that these are actual wood! They are simple to put together and look great! We just put lemon Oil furniture polish on them and it brings out the wood grain beautifully! I also really like that they are such a versatile system, you can make them customized to your space. I am actually considering offering to purchase a full kitchen set up of this Ivar system for my granddaughter kitchen in her new place.5
Really nice cabinetJudyCliffWe bought this cabinet along with a few other items from this line to use as kitchen cabinets. They were very easy to put together. They look really nice and we like that they are actually wood, most kitchen cabinets, unless you have a fortune to spend, are made of laminated Mdf board. We have a counter top that we had installed years ago, and this cabinet slipped right under it.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the wood species, it is durable, beautiful, renewable and recyclable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood. This way, every tree is put to good use that little extra.
