Great practical sofa!JenniferReally like this sofa. Dog friendly…w/2 Great Danes.5
Uppland SofaSherryperfect for my living room. Waiting for Chair to be in stock!5
Loving it so far. AnxiousDIANELoving it so far. Anxious to see future slip covers in new fabrics. A little deeper than our previous sofa, my feet don't touch the floor unless I put a pillow behind my back. Comfy for naps!5
Uppland SofaAnitaMy rating is probably a 4.6 to 4.8. It is very comfortable, and the casual style I was looking for. The only thing that keeps it from a full 5 stars is that one seat cushion just doesn't seem to fill the slip cover perfectly. But I am very pleased overall, and so grateful I was able to get one during this time of shortages!5
Great value, versatilePamelaVery durable. Love the fact that I can machine wash it and switch it out with a different color if I’d like.5
Love this sofa!BETSYMy daughter, my mom and I all have this sofa...we love it! It’s comfortable, it’s stylish and it is easy to clean and maintain. We all love the idea that we can wash the covers as needed!5
Just NOT an EktorpVirginia G.I just received and set up my Uppland sofa in white (the only cotton choice available). At the same time I washed my Ektorp love seat slipcover (also cotton). Sadly there is absolutely NO comparison. The Ektorp slipcovers fit perfectly. The Uppland slipcovers are baggy and cheaply made. The underside of the seat cushions (which are a cheap synthetic) showed straining at the seams immediately. The small middle back cushion looks odd. I didn't iron the main cover as suggested but I never ironed my Ektorp and it always looked perfect. (If you've seen old Ektorps for sale on line that have been used hard, that is how the Uppland looks--mushy.) I will continue to push and pull and move the stuffing but I am sure this sofa will never compare to my 4 year old Ektorp. Too bad, IKEA. It looks like you cut a lot of corners here. (Oh, and two cushions came pre-stained. Not enough to take the whole thing back but really disappointing!)3
Love it!ArnetteWe love this sofa. It is sturdy and comfortable and the cover is super easy to put on so it should be a breeze to wash or change out when we want. As soon as a white cover is available I will be ordering one.5
UPPLAND PERFECTIONDonnaI spotted this beautiful sofa more than a year before I bought it. Once my den was remodeled I went straight to IKEA for it! It is so comfortable. I like the shape of the arms, and it is perfect for the space I bought it for. I LOVE the red & white floral cover. That is what drew my eyes to it to begin with. Everyone that has seen it loves it, too!5
PerfectJerilynEasy to put together and comfortable. Exactly what I wanted!5
Super comfy and durable sofayong z.I have brought this soft since Im out of college and it has been with with for almost 18 years. it has moved with me from apt to big house and back to apt. even though I have brought other expensive sofa, but this sofa is always the most comfortable one and people always fall to sleep in it. I have changed the cover 3 time, every time I move I change the cover to give it a new clean look. it's like you can have this sofa forever without getting sick of it. I have brought so many other sofa: leather, fabric etc they are either wore out or become saggy after couple year max 10 year, but this Ikea Sofa never become saggy, but the cover does got strinke after wash and getting hard to put back on. and part of the back cousin has been loosing some of the fillings, but with the thick cover, you really don't feel much. now after I move to other state, my friend still using it and love it. for this price, you can't get anything better.5
Doesn’t live up. Bring back ektorpSARA I.My only complaint about our ektorp furniture was the height. When uppland came around i thought it was the perfect time to replace our sectional after almost 10 years. It was still in great condition and the covers had washed so well no rips or snags. And i washed them a lot. We replaced the sectional with a couch and chair uppland. We have had it for almost a year. There is a hole in the seams on the chair cover, a couch cushion and the footstool cover. All holes are at the seams so they were not sewn well. Several snags on the couch cushion covers. Another complaint is the cushion covers do not stay in place on the cushions so the seams are always sliding down the front of the cushions. They seem to be pretty sturdy except the arms on the sofa keep coming loose so we need to find some brackets to hold it tight. ikea, please bring back the ektorp or at least the ektorp fabrics.2
Wish I would have bought it soonerBrittanyI love this couch! When we were looking a couple years ago we looked at ikea couches and my husband said it wasn’t comfortable. We ended up spending too much on one that did not hold up well at all. Moved recently and have more sitting rooms than I know what to do with so I bought this couch along with some extra covers. After being sat on for a couple weeks it’s so much more comfortably. Next time I’m going with my gut.5
Uppland sofaCarolLove it! Easy to put together, very comfy, room to fall asleep on and stay all night!5
Super ComfortableMEGANThis Sofa was exactly what we were looking for. Something comfortable, that came in easy-to-move pieces with removable, washable covers. With pets in the house, washable covers are a must. We have washed the seat cushions already and they did wonderful in the wash.5
Extremely Dangerous!Eric B.There is no excuse for how dangerous this sofa is. A child or pet could easily get crushed in it. Underneath there is a gap between a piece of metal that the cushions compress into. A pet or child can easily get under this sofa and put their body, head and neck in the gap. When someone sits on it, a child or pet could be crushed. I was utterly disgusted at the design. The bottom should be sealed. Period. No animal or child should be able to crawl up inside this sofa. They could also access the back of the sofa. The metal is also razor sharp and I sliced my hand testing out the safety. A pet or child could be severely cut. I stapled two layers of high strength cloth to seal off the bottom. The back is also too low and it's uncomfortable for your spine if you're tall. We will look into returning this - but we can't do it immediately, I don't trust Ikea after this experience. I took photos of everything. This should be pulled off the market - and other furniture should be reviewed.1
DependableCarleaEasy to put together. Pretty sturdy. Only thing is out pretty flimsy under the slipcover. If we ever want to move it, that material might rip easily.4
AssemblyGeorgeIt is a little hard to Assemble5
Good valueMarianneWe purchased the Uppland because it was in our budget and has deeper seating than some other models. It was very easy to assemble. We could not be more happy with our purchase.5
This sofa is good butAnupamThis sofa is good but the cushions aren't, not so satisfied. Also suddenly IKEA increased price more than 20%(100$), that's really weird.3

Our take on cotton

We use cotton in many of our products, from sofas and cushions to bed linen and mattresses. It is a soft, durable and renewable fiber that breathes and is good at absorbing moisture. All these great qualities make cotton one of our most important materials, but it isn’t without its challenges, much having to do with conventional farming methods that negatively impact the environment and poor working conditions for farmers. With our size and production volumes, we want to drive change in the cotton industry. By only using recycled cotton or cotton from more sustainable sources, working with partnerships and initiatives on the ground and prioritizing compliance, we believe that we can make a positive impact in the world of cotton.

100% cotton from more sustainable source

Since 2015, all cotton in IKEA products is either recycled or comes from more sustainable sources*. This means that we only source cotton grown using sustainable farming practices that reduce the use of fertilisers, pesticides and water, improve working conditions and earnings for farmers, and benefit ecosystem health and biodiversity conservation. We have set up a system that enables use to trace all our cotton and ensure that the final product is from approved, certified sources. *Cotton from more sustainable sources commits to the following schemes: Better Cotton (as defined by BCI, including their equivalence in various geographies), cotton from farmers working towards the BCI standard (TBC).

Working together to drive change

Each year, IKEA uses around 0.5 percent of all cotton grown around the world. This may not seem like a lot, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders globally to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) who runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within IKEA projects.

Ensuring compliance throughout the value chain

All IKEA products are produced in accordance with the IKEA IWAY Standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected from our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labor, child labor or treatments in breach of our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams across the globe ensure that all cotton used in IKEA products meets the demands of compliance in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been challenging to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve the industry. If we discover that we are acting in places where we cannot ensure our requirements are being met, we follow-up on the ground and drive change.

What is cotton?

Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibers. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.
