Great DeskKIERSTENThis desk was easy to assemble, my husband basically did it all. The color is almost black. Pull out dawer is super handy however I wish it stored completely under the desk and didnt stick out a bit!5
Craft DeskMaryI have been searching for the perfect craft desk for years. This is it! This desk is big enough for working space and keeping the items for my project organized and at hand. Exceeds my expectations!5
Love my Malm deskJennifer T.I love my Malm desk. I like that I can switch the pull out to either side, this helps give me more options when moving my furniture around occasionally. I really wish it had a drawer so I will be getting the smaller Malm drawer/filing hitch to add on.5
Excellent!FannyMExcellent!5
I love this desk!Zariah D.I was shopping for a desk for a while and I wanted one with drawers, however, the one I wanted wasn't available at my local Ikea and I didn't want to pay to have it shipped. I knew I wanted a lot of workspace, it needed to hold three large monitors, keyboard and mouse comfortably. I like that this desk has the pull out table to the side. I keep my planner and drinks there and the main area for my electronics. Its a deep desk and holds everything very comfortably. I purchased a separate drawer unit and have that off to the side. This was easy to put together and I was able to assemble it on my own. It is also very light to transfer in its box. I will also mention that the back side of the desk has an area to feed cord through but during long work days it also acts as my foot rest... I really love this desk and am very satisfied with my purchase.5
DeskWendyIt is a nice desk, easy to assemble. I like the side pull out for extra table space.4

great work space/space saverMaggieThis came in very handy making crafts for Christmas gifts. We pulled the smaller table out so someone else could use it from the other side while my daughter used the main desk. When they were done they pushed it back in. Major space saver5
A solid desk at a resonable priceMichaelI needed a desk so I can work from home and had certain requirements. I needed something big enough to hold at least three monitors and with lots of surface area. This desk is perfect. It is a very large desk and a bit heavy so you might need help getting it in position. The wood is very thick and the sliding portion of desk is easy to expand or contract the work area. I feel confident it will last a long time. It was easy to put together and Ikea delivered it the next day which was great because it allowed me to get up and running immediately. The space underneath allows me to store a file cabinet and several computers. Aesthetically it is very simple and reflects the overall design of the desk which is functional simplicity. If you don't need something fancy then this desk is a good choice5
Perfect for small spacesAshleyBought for my studio apartment. The sliding feature is very convenient for more counter space when you need it. 10/10 for this desk5
Just what’s neededMarySolid but not bulky. Sleek lines.5
Great product.... from Brownsville, Texas (VAMONOS!)DanielIt is worth the price and is better than a lot of expensive desks out there. A little confusion on the instructions when building it, but very minor. Overall, it is worth the price and like any other Ikea product, well worth the purchase and the drive to the Ikea Store.5
Love it!VANESSA C.I almost bought a larger L-shaped desk from another company, but gave this one a closer look and it’s perfect! For such a large workspace, it’s fairly light weight but very sturdy, adjustable and attractive in my home office. It’s pretty easy to put together; you just need two people, preferably, to flip it over after it’s been assembled. Great buy5
Simple and clean cut deskSAMMIEI like this desk. The instruction is not very well written but the desk is what I wanted.5
Nice deskCaroleWe downsized from a huge corner desk to this and it still met all my husband’s needs for work. The pull out on the left is an added space that is handy for him to write reports.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Function solution

More room at the desk

A desk like MALM, with a pull-out panel, gives you extra room - when you need it. And when you're finished working, just roll the panel back under the desk again. You can place the pull-out panel where you want - on the right side or the left.
