Cute and functionalChloeVery happy I went with this version of the eket as a hallway bookshelf. I got another 4-chamber eket + wooden legs too to make it longer. I will say, I LOVE building ikea furniture and I found this one sort of challenging because it wasn’t the usual screw-in model. Instead, there were a lot of points where you needed body strength to fit things together. I ended up stripping some of the connection areas which led to minor cosmetic imperfections. Not enough to upset me, just a word of warning.5
Record Storage CabinetMichaelSurprisingly easy to be put together, they look great and met my purpose of record storage and Stereo stand.5
Horrible and disappointing designJamie K.I've been putting together Ikea furniture for 20+ years. I saw a picture of the mitered edges with the keyhole fasteners before purchasing and thought to myself that this will work great or not at all. Unfortunately, it was the latter. The holes were not cleanly drilled so the boards did not slot together without significant force (even before I tried to get the last piece on). When I tried to take it apart, because I couldn't get the last piece on, it was impossible. Would not recommend ANY Ikea product with this new construction.1
Great Solution for the spaceMichelleWe needed storage space in our son's room. He picked this out and while he is away at college, we put it together and it looks great!5
Not as straightforward to assemble as in the photos.Stavros T.I have been used to intuitive and error-free procedures for IKEA furniture and this at first look seems easy and straightforward. Only it is not because if you kind of mix the order of putting the sides together which is easy to do as they all seem the same then the pieces don't fit and you have to force them apart and start over. Not a particularly fun thing to do with connections relying on a rather flimsy piece of particleboard.2

Great casual bookcase setupJeffColor is bright, materials are decent, holds alot of books and other various items5
Great kitchen storageDEIRDREOur kitchen does not boast a lot of storage space so we bought this to house our “countertop” appliances, like the Instapot, crockpot, and toaster. The Eket holds everything neatly and the feet give it a more elevated look than the Kallax would look sitting on the ground.5

Easy to Set UpTiffanyThis product was fairly simple to put together considering it's IKEA. :) The only potential issue is with the legs. There are no pre-drilled holes for the leg screws. It's best to use a drill to start a hole, but IKEA provides a disposable marking tool so you know exactly where to drill. Pretty easy to set up and it looks great in my home office.5

EKET 4 cubby cabinetHollyVery nice quality. went together easily ( I followed instructions). My only wish is that the base with legs had been available- I would have liked that look, but the single wood legs I got do look good with the white cabinet5
So confusing! Not like Ikea at all..CordeeI am very disappointed in this product. It's was like putting a puzzle together and not a fun one. I put the first part together incorrectly and was unable to disassemble it to try and fix it. Then I put the second one together correctly but when I had to put on the feet, the screws broke off and now it's basically broken. I just don't understand this concept they tried to make with the snap together stuff. It kind of stinks. I have been putting together IKEA products for years and I have never been so defeated by an assembly project. I was really looking forward to having this in my house, now I feel like I just wasted $140 since I had to drive 2 hours (one way) to the only IKEA in my state and I don't want to do another 4 hour trip. :/1
24 shoddy screws + 0 pilot holes = frustrationJeremy2020Love the set. Hate the stainless steel leg assembly. Each leg has three screws that are screwed into storage unit - all without pilot holes. That's 3 screws per leg x 8 legs that you have to hand screw into the MDF. Of the 24 screws 4 of them actually snapped and another four heads stripped. I bought a second set of screws to finish the assembly. All in all ,the legs were incredibly frustrating while the rest of the assembly was a breeze. I had bought another eket storage combo with the eket leg assembly and it was much easier to assemble. 4 stars for the product without this leg combination, the other leg combination is much better.4
It"s what I was looking for...bookmeisterThe cube storage is just what I needed. But I still can't figure out how the legs are supposed to be attached. There weren't the normal Ikea holes for screws, and instructions didn't make things clear (Good thing I wasn't sure I wanted to use them....)5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light and resource-efficient, yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
