  • We want to have a positive impact on the planet. That is why by 2030, we want all materials in our products to be recycled or renewable, and sourced in responsible ways.

By using particle board with a slice of wood as top layer instead of only solid wood in this product, we use less wood per product. That way, we take better care of resources.

Just the right size forMarjorieJust the right size for a small kitchen.5
Some serious problems with assembly.Jackie B.It is a perfect size for our small apartment. However, assembling it was a challenge. The wooden dowels placement in most cases did not align with the matching holes. Bending them did not work. You need to check the alignment and make new holes. The drawer is a bit wobbly, but works. We only received one shelf instead of 2 as shown, but one was sufficient for our needs. That said the wood for the top is nice and solid and appears to be good quality.3
Nice Versatile Kitchen CartKevinVery compact cart with good storage capacity and sturdy construction. The extra area with the fold out surface is handy and can be assembled on the side of your choice.5
great little cartlaurel g.heavy duty wood chopping block and shelves. directions unclear in many areas...more clarification/shading needed there! holes for shelving prongs need a bit of enlarging as do the ones for trestle bracket. Once done, it is a very cute, heavy duty cart in a size hard to find!4

Butcher Block TableDawnLehrPerfect size for that odd corner in you kitchen. Very attractive and useful. Extra storage. When you have large groups for a meal, this rolls next to the table for additional space for your entrees and side dishes.4
Sturdy little cartJulie54615I am very happy to have this cart for a little added space. My kitchenaid fits great. The only issue I have is moving the cart isn't as easy as I hoped.4
Very handytmunizThis was the perfect size for my kitchen. Great for my heavy pots, plus nice to show them off.5
Excellent furniture product, but one thing would mQuilter JanI bought this cart earlier this week and I love it. The styling is excellent, and it’s one of the most well-made IKEA products I’ve ever purchased, sturdy and stable. One item to improve: the special IKEA combo screw and locking nut fasteners are too flimsy for screwing into the solid oak cart top. Need a BETTER solution! Had to use a vise grip to screw those into the top!! Even then they bent and almost broke. Otherwise the assembly instructions were clear, accurate, and easy to follow, and easy to do. But those top screws were awful....5
Pairs well with TornvikenThe Pear FarmThis island/cart appears to match well with the larger Tornviken island we already have. It is described as white, but it is really more an off-white or very light cream. The counter surface also appears to match well with Tornviken. It seems sturdy and was relatively easy to assemble with thorough enough directions.5
Difficult to AssembleItchyfeetx2Cart took MUCH longer to assemble than expected—had to get drill to widen the holes in order to screw it together. Finished product looks good and functions as expected—except for the drawer which does not close easily.3
Not whiteTBowman1The product isn't white. It's cream and doesn't match any of my actually white cabinets. The hardware is soft and easily stripped. The top was scratched upon opening the box. It's sturdy but very hard to put together.2
Love this cart!kibiniI have this in black and just love it. It stands perfectly next to my cabinets and gives me a place to sit while cutting veggies or doing other kitchen tasks. I find when there are complaints about assembly it is usually user error...I too have quite a few pieces of IKEA furniture and have found the instructions challenging but in the end the result is well worth it! I recommend it highly!5
Mini WorkshopAllisaI bought this cart to set up my stained glass mini workshop on. Its just the right height, the side flips up and down for added space. Has a storage drawer for my tools and I used just one of the shelves and purchased an expanding kitchen thing that I use to stand my glass sheets on. The stand is really sturdy and can be moved around. A great purchase.5
Great little cartcaro4952We've had this cart for a few months and it's a perfect fit for our small kitchen. As per the instructions that came with it, I have oiled it with furniture oil purchased separately from Ikea and will continue to do so once every couple of months. This makes the unpainted wood look in great condition.5
Bottom Metal ShelfJRTayIn general the cart was as expected except the bottom metal shelf was not at all as pictured and was scratced in a couple of places and was white with blue stripes. My husband is going to make a wooden shelf to match the other two shelves.3
Perfect sizeEAF1It works as a convenient workspace is a small kitchen5
Carol 45The product material is very good I give thumb up! Than it work well and nice , I will introduce to my friends great production.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favorite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the wood species, it is durable, beautiful, renewable and recyclable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood. This way, every tree is put to good use that little extra.
