Great stools, took forever to assembleYeseniaI am pretty good at assembling IKEA furniture and these take forever, there are a four screws on the legs that need to be tightened in a hole, if that makes sense. Not the easiest.4
Love this barstool!RobertWe were looking for a barstool that was steady, well-built, good looking, would wear well, and gave decent back support. This is the one! They went together well as long as you follow the instructions. Very well engineered. The only problem is we need two more for our table and they've been not available for over a month!5
Pretty bar stoolAmyI bought this item because it matched my decor for my remodeled kitchen. I liked the color.5
NNicolasSolid chair. The comfort is there.5
Perfect Kitchen Island ChairSTEPHANIEWe have looked for perfect stools for our new kitchen island and we found them! They are comfortable and provide great support. The price was amazing and they were easy to put together.5
StoolThomasGreat for price and functionality, bought 2 earlier this year and came back for more!5
Not expensive and nice. CushionsAnne-CatherineNot expensive and nice. Cushions are easy to clean. I looked for other chairs and finally find those. I m really happy5
New bar stools for empty nest.GingerWe had Ingolf stools for years, but wanted to refresh & get something nicer for our empty nest. The seats are just a little broader to fit our middle aged bums, and they're padded which is more comfortable. We upholstered the seats to match our dining chairs & they turned out perfectly.5
perfect heightJenniferWe just moved into an apartment with a 36 inch breakfast bar and these stools are the perfect height. The cushion and full back make them comfortable to sit at and eat a meal5
Nice size and comfortable. WouldChrisNice size and comfortable. Would have liked it in another color. Perhaps brown wood or darker seat cover.4

Perfect Chairs for our new kitchen islandDaveThese were the perfect chairs for our new kitchen island. Very happy with the quality, look and price.5
love the color and howstellalove the color and how it fits under the counter4
Great except it’s missing predrilled holesAOK930Along with other reviewers, my two bar stools were also missing holes that should have been predrilled. Not sure why they can’t seem to fix this issue but once you use a drill it works fine. They are new so still not sure if I’d recommend them but so far they are pretty comfy and sturdy.3
Nice, low key chairs for the eating barKayTeaThese are a nice choice for eating at the kitchen island in our new flat. They're just right for counter-top height seating. Comfortable and seem sturdy enough to hold a 280 lb person!5
Works great!SheronepI purchased this to work with my craft table. Picked it up from the as-is area. Very easy to put together. No issues with holes. All of the tools were in the box. Only thing missing were the instructions. Quickly looked them up on the website and it took about 20 minutes to put together. I would definitely purchase again and recommend this chair.4
CheapDispenseI bought three of these before Christmas to have some guests sit at my bar. On each one there was an issue with the hole not being bored out enough to fit the pieces together. Luckily I have the tools to do this, but I had to spend way too long triple checking I read the instructions correct and then fixing the issue. There seems to be little quality control.2
Counter StoolsJoejoe2345789Just bought and love them they are great in my kitchen and very sturdy and comfortable!! Great job IKEA!5
Not sturdy at allAmy81This chair is perfect example of why I haven't bought Ikea furniture since college. Terrible to put together, the cross bars won't go in unless you use a drill and the seat doesn't attach to all screw holes. I don't think it will last long. I am afraid to have my 50lb child sit on it as it feels like it is going to break. Can't let adults sit on it, so useless. For $65 would have expected better.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is foam?

Foam is excellent as upholstery in seating and mattresses since it provides good comfort and can relieve pressure by moulding to the body. Depending on the properties and feel you’re looking for, there are several qualities to choose from, like high-resilience foam and memory foam. The raw material for foam was previously based entirely on virgin fossil materials. But today, together with our suppliers, we’ve begun developing a material that is renewable and recycled.

Function solution

Choose the right bar stool height

Choose the right height of your bar stool so that it is comfy to sit on, offers plenty of leg room and is proportionate with the rest of your space. Kitchen counters and counter-height tables typically range from 34-36" from the floor. To find the perfect stool for your counter, look for a seat height of 23-26". Tabletops or counters that measure between 39-42" from the floor, are typically classified as "bar height”, and require a seat height of 28-30".
