NIce, BUT chipped cornersLoriIkea is going downhill, not only in customer service but in quality. Everything I have purchased there in this past year-if available-has been made cheaply. This piece was chipped on the corners right out of the box. My choice was drive an hour and waste a day or deal with it. At this point, we had to return so many times, we decided to deal with it. I'll recommend this piece but check it all out before you start to build it.3
Very nice, quality pricing 👍YVONVery nice, quality pricing 👍5
Don’t buy unless you have wood working skillsCathy B.Unit is not fabricated using typical IKEA fastening methods. It has not been vetted for ease of construction and does not have good instructions. The slots that receive the dowels are not cleanly routed out so the very precise construction that this unit requires was not able to be achieved which meant the back panel that goes into the slot on the bottom and sides isn’t able to slide in. The package was also missing one of the two front doors but that was the least of the problems. I get ikea furniture because I know It has been vetted for the average consumer to construct. I go out of my way to pick it up at the store and haul it into my house because of that. This product is more typical of what I’d expect from Wayfair. Difference is it would have been delivered to my house and I’d be refunded fully for the subpare product. Ikea isn’t owning their issue with this product. Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. After poor customer service on top of this, will be my last purchase.1
Easy build and looks greatNeilPlenty of storage space but more importantly, easy to build. Setup was much more efficient.5
PerfectSarahPerfect for what I was looking for, no problems assembling it, product had no defects! Gave four stars in product quality for the backing of the cabinet otherwise I like the sturdiness of the rest of it!5
Great pieceAmitaGreat sideboard, one piece was damaged but customer service took care of us with replacing it.4

NiceDianaPerfect for storage. Except that one of the doors is not on straight and does not self close. The task rabbit person told me that some of Ikea’s items are like that.4

Easy to assembleClayCIkea has improved their construction since the last time I bought something. This cabinet was simple to put together and is very sturdy. It’s working great as our bar.5

Great product!Perfect space saver and practical!UlmaHI bought it a month ago and I am very happy with the product! It’s practical and has a very slick look5
Beautiful, but assembly was a nightmareLCinNCThis cabinet was exactly what we wanted for our dining room, to store the dinnerware and serving ware that we use when we have guests. It matches our Ekedalen table from IKEA perfectly. I would have given it 5 stars, but assembly is HORRIBLY difficult, even for someone like me who is quite experienced at assembling IKEA furniture. Judging by the fact that the reviews were consistently high (4-5 stars) until a few months ago (late 2019), when they suddenly dropped to 1 star, I’m guessing IKEA switched manufacturers on this piece. The pieces that are supposed to connect fit together way too tightly, making it extraordinarily difficult to get the pieces flush or to pull them apart to try again. My right hand is badly bruised from doing so. (Ultimately, rubbing soap on the connecting points helped a bit.) Another problem is that putting the doors on it is very difficult. One can’t see the tiny holes into which the screws should go when the latch is positioned over them, and I had to drill holes in order to get the screws in far enough to secure the latches. Fortunately, there is a bit of vertical give on the latch holes, which enabled better alignment of the doors...though not perfect. IKEA needs to fix these assembly issues in the design or switch manufacturers.3
Janky DoorsBelle33The doors aren't flush so it doesn't close properly. I'm unable to close one door and then the other one because the first door will get in the way of the other door trying to close. In order to close it, I have to swing both doors in together at the same time and they end up pushing against each other a little bit. I tried swapping doors because but it's just a measurement thing. The unit is too tight to close properly.1
Wrong colorDisappointed consumerI bought this cabinet when I was shopping out of town. When I got out home and opened it it is the wrong color. I wanted it in brown and I ended up with a grey and black cabinet. Which after checking on line grey and black is not even a color option! I complained to ikea. I am just out of the shipping area of the store I bought it at. They were not helpful and I am out $230 and have a cabinet that doesn't match anything in my house! Very disappointed in the cabinet and customer service!1
Great Featuresjgun281Excellent cabinet, easy to put together, great instructions. The cabinet is very sturdy and holds alot. Well worth the money spent.5

Very elegantMooshiIt’s beautiful and elegant and perfect size for where I wanted, the doors were very hard to put together, I still love it4
Easy to put together and what we needed.mwaltonWe bought this to serve as pantry storage. We bought a few containers to fit on each shelf from another store and it has been perfect. One of the doors isn't completely aligned but otherwise it is exactly what we wanted.4

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
