Box was incredibly heavy, but great productBrian W.Bought this because we got a bed frame from Ikea and this was suggested as part of it to be a mattress base. Also, we have a crossover style SUV and a pre-assembled box spring or mattress base would never fit in our car. The box this comes in (Queen size) was unbelievably heavy. Like, frustratingly and annoyingly heavy.. should be in two boxes, but it will definitely need to people to lift unless you unbox the parts before carring it inside. Assembled it myself in about 45mins. There are reviews here saying they "didn't install the middle beam" but that the mattress was sinking... DUH, that's what the middle beam is for. Use it! Just pay close attention to the directions; anyone complaining about them didn't take time to just LOOK at them carefully. Very simple. Memory foam mattress seems very solid and sturdy on this, no sinking. It's expensive, but convenient. Would suggest.5
Best bed base ever!CHARLENE M.This thing is rock solid. I love it and have bought two. You don’t need a dust ruffle as the colored covers are nice and tailored, and you can choose your own leg height. I have it pushed up against a hefty Crate and Barrel headboard and it’s beautiful. I’m not sure what people are talking about in the bad reviews, as you only need to have a normal mattress to lay on top. Everything is flush. I suspect they did not assemble it properly. I have a Queen and do not use the extra support leg for the middle, and again this box doesn’t budge, or squeak. If you need the support leg, don’t forget to buy it separately. — I hate bed frames that require a box spring. It’s hard to tuck covers down the sides; dust, dog hair, socks, and crumbs get stuck in crevices; I’m always knocking my shins on the corners; and moving the whole bed in order to clean is nearly impossible. Espevar doesn’t cause me any of these issues. I hope you never discontinue this item. Yes, I’m passionate; it’s that good.5

Nice, solid foundation.AmyThis was exactly what I had in mind for a simple foundation. It has solid wood sides, center brace, and slats. The cover makes it look more expensive than it is. It was also easy to assemble by myself (even though it's recommended to have 2 people). I used the tall, wood legs (Brynilen) so there's lots of storage space underneath. The only problem is that the center support leg isn't included and is out of stock. I've temporarily braced the center beam with a piece of wood while I wait for the support leg that I ordered for twice retail from eBay.5

Very happy overall!GregWe first bought a extra firm and had it for about two months. Not suggesting for people who sleep on their stomachs? Exchanged it for a plush and sleep like a baby now! Always have had plush in the past! Love th way they are packed and quality so far is great. IKEA really rocks because of the one year return policy, it takes a month or two to really adjust to a new mattress.5

works well to raise height of ikea bed frameshtb1I purchased this to raise the height of my tarva frame, which is too low to get in and out of bed. I reused the center suppor tpole but my luroy slats dont fit the espevar, so you have to use the hard slats that come with espevar. once this was done, it worked great. The instructions are by far the worst ikea instruction I've come across in 30 years! I now want to use the espevar as a stand alone bed base and I see from the reviews that I need a center support leg, not just a set of 4 legs. ikea needs to do better with this product range. its unacceptable. Meanwhile, yes, this product works great to raise the height of ike bed frames.3
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS !!KarlaaMWhen I purchase this item I had to buy the box spring which was like it saids in the price 160 when receiving the product we had go back to purchase an additional item which was the cover for 35 dollars, we later found out yet again that there it was also missing the actual box springs that goes in the middle of the base bored to hold the mattress in place. we had to yet again run to ikea for them to tell us that it was discontinued to bring it back. So we loaded it back after assembling it and headed yet again back to ikea. After being EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED from building it and going back and forth and loading it to the truck and unloading it to ikea again we finally go to return It and received store credit .. TO THEN FIND OUT that the instructions were wrong! and that they had a different way of doing it that we had to find it on YouTube ??? after we JUST RETURN IT! and did all the work for NOTING wasted an entire day in ikea because employees are not well equipped or well informed there is ALOT of she said he said !1
Not worth the moneySorry customerBought a full bed along with this base. We were helped by an ikea employee. She wrote up the order and told us we would need a middle supporting leg. We get home to assemble, the instructions are a bit confusing. You need at least 2 people. When we finish I realize that we need a thin supporting matress to sit on top of the boards. I decided just to put the cover on. Well the bed didn't quite fit. It seems to be slightly smaller than the base and it sinks into the base. When you get on the bed it dips in the middle. I am pregnant and since the bed rises up on the sides it makes it hard to get out of bed. This was a $600 purchase, including the bed. The bed frame was $160, not including the 5 legs I had to purchase. I don't feel like spending another $60 each (2 of them) for the supporting matress. I'll use it temporarily and buy an actual bed frame elsewhere.1
OK product.....bad manualMister ReeseI have a handyman business specializing in furniture and equipment assembly. Even by IKEA standards, this 60 page manual is really bad. The start of the manual does NOT give you all the different permutations, and it should. Once the thing was finally assembled correctly, it is pretty good. But this is a BAD manual, took 3 tries, and a call to customer service to get it properly assembled.2
Really easy to put together!KibokuWas able to put it together alone in less than an hour. Very easy. Feels sturdy. Got the queen size and didn't use the middle supporting leg (Sultan) but it doesn't wobble or sink when we get in the bed. I think it should be fine. Our last IKEA bed didn't have one and lasted almost 10 years. Love it and how low profile it is since we have a small room. Definitely an improvement!4
Favorite bed base ever!BunniI love this bed base. It is exactly what it describes. My bed is at a perfect height. The grey looks clean and modern, also was easy to put over the wood base without any tears. It is tight fitting but if you are gentle, it goes on perfectly. I put this together by myself. I'm a 38yr old woman :) The slats keep air flow as described and are flat so there is zero sagging anywhere nor does the middle bar create an uncomfortable hard spot in the middle. I can cuddle my partner without any discomfort as was the case with my previous bed frame. This base allows you to create your own headboard if you'd like that is attached to your wall and changeable whenever you please. I recommend this bed base.5
Love itCarrielouWe bought the king for our memory foam mattress and it is perfect. It assembles in two pieces and is quite sturdy so it will be easier to move. We didn’t have the issue with a missing middle leg, so they must have corrected that flaw. I actually bought the middle leg just in case and now I have to return it! Love the clean design as well. Looks very nice.5
Solid frame - easy set upJoxer DailyI was skeptical because of the other reviews. However, the frame was easy to set up and very solid. It was probably the easiest ikea piece I have set up. However, I agree it was heavy in the box. I got the twin without legs and am very happy! Just wish there was the dark grey cover in stock at the store even though the website said there was. Went with light.5
