A mattress base has two big advantages. It makes your bed higher and it helps your mattress keep its shape longer by distributing your body weight, providing extra support and lightening the load.

Does what intendedEdgarI don't really like it, but couldn't get a better bed frame with a headboard because they were completely unavailable for months. There's no realistic way to get a functional headboard onto this without drilling into it, which I'm afraid would crack it. That said, it is stable as-assembled, which is really all a frame needs to be. I wouldn't necessarily tell someone NOT to get it, I just wouldn't own it if I had a choice.5
Solid, great looking bed baseALLISONBought this to replace an older bed base that did not fit in with the decor of our new home. This was easy to put together and made made us realize that our mattress that we were thinking of replacing was perfectly comfortable.5
Perfect Bed Base!SophiaPerfect base for my Casper mattress! Just pay attention to where the inside and outside is when assembling, the photos/drawing the first one is a bit confusing. Very important when you go to screw in the support legs!!! Otherwise there won’t be a place to screw them in. I put it together myself (45 min or so) once I figured it out. I could not be happier with my purchase.5
Perfect platform for our son’s mattress!JanEasy to assemble, fits our son’s full mattress perfectly, and looks really nice. It’s just what we were looking for.5
Great constructionSunnyDayReviewerGreat craftsmanship and very solid5
Warning! Sold INCOMPLETE without support leg!!John MartinWhat a nightmare!!! This mattress requires the “Sultan support leg” to complete the Queen frame assembly. This was NOT mentioned by the employee in the beds department, the product info tag or the cashier. You’ll only realize you’re missing this part on the last step of the assembly instructions. Then IKEA site shows it has ZERO in stock at the Sunrise location and only 2 in the Miami store.. drove to Miami store and they had NONE on their shelf. Now I have a frame and mattress in my hallway I can’t use because the part is unavailable, otherwise I have to take the whole frame apart and haul this huge heavy box back to the store, (where I have to “register” on the IKEA App just to get a spot on the Returns Dept and wait half an hour (stupid). Both locations had a full supply of mattresses, And the legs for this frame but NONE of this required part. Why would you even sell this separately from the frame or the legs?? The WORST part is I settled on this mattress frame after originally went to the IKEA for the “GODFJORD” bed and mattress set because it was featured on the site and main showroom for “special price until July 19” but then was out of stock!! (Hey IKEA- Don’t feature items you don’t have in stock!!) I was told by the store person this frame and “Haugsvar Queen Mattress Hybrid” I wanted was out of stock until August... BUT when I went back the next day to buy that stupid Sultan support leg they had JUST restocked 12 of the mattress I originally wanted!!! i have always been prided myself in furnishings my entire household with IKEA products but GD what a horrible experience1
Good but Notrf82This frame is pretty easy to assemble but you need two people to do it. It seems pretty solid and the fabric covering is decently made. The only problem is that the frame is too small for the mattress. The mattress rests on the frame but it doesn't sink into it. Because of this, there is a dip in the center of the mattress. It's very odd. You can either have the mattress resting on the frame and get the dip, or you can put the matress down flat on the slats on one side and then the other side will be resting on top of the frame. Weird design, the slats should be up higher so the mattress has a solid base.4
Works as expected when instructions are followedNicknamesaresillyI'm really posting this to address the negative comments regarding engavagen/slats not being flush. The second page says explains for those using the Engavagen go to page 5, everyone else go to page 26. Don't know the reasoning but some that were supposed to go to 26 continued to 5 and had a bad time as a result. That's what I really wanted to say, as for the bed frame, can't say much it's a bed frame. Looks the part, and is unassuming. Just feels a bit pricey compared to other similar bed frames that are 2/3rds the price.4
Great mattress base for the moneyAdrianL1996Don't trust the other reviews that say you need the Engavagen spring core inserts for this mattress base: you don't. There are specific instructions in the assembly handbook to build this mattress base without the Engavagen spring core inserts (I guess people can't follow instructions?) Excellent mattress base for the money, especially with the legs. Easy assembly (took me about an hour), extremely sturdy, and holds my queen Haugesund mattress with ease. No wobbling, creaking, or issues with the mattress base of any kind. Again, you DO NOT NEED the Engavagen spring core inserts for this base: it is optional (I believe they are only sold in Europe). Just follow the instructions for building the Espevar without the spring core inserts and you'll be fine.5
KADNDThe base was easy to set up, but the edges are not even with the slats and my new Casper mattress sags in the middle. How can I find the Engavagen insert? I feel that the base requires this to create a level surface for your mattress to rest on. I cannot find this anywhere on the website or in the store. The photos on the site make it appear as though the slats are the same height as the edge of the frame, but this is not the case after assembly. It doesn't make sense with either the mattress or the fabric cover.1
Poor Service for Online Purchasehq321For shippment: Two Sultan legs missed. I contact the online purchase by phone on 8/21/19. The staff online said I had two choices: refund and purchase in store, or shipped missing items again but need a week for delivery. I chose refund and purchase in store. She told me 7-14 business days for refund. Today (9/14/19) is 17 business days since I called them on 8/21/19. I still haven't seen refund shown on my credit card. For delivery: It was behind window time 2 hours. The window time was 1-5 PM 8/19/19 but actually was nearly 7 PM. I need reschedule assembly time with TaskRabbit. For assembly: Due to the poor instruction, the TaskRabbit staff assembled it with wrong side. He refused to correct it. He said he spent couple times for this assembly, and only earn $38. Finally I adjusted the wrong assembled part myself for 30 minutes. The Ikea online service is really the poorest I experienced. But the store service is good only except items out of stock.1
Close, but no cigar.KweenMarleneThis is a great bed frame. Super easy to put together, nice height, etc. There are three problems with it: 1. There was some part indicated in the instructions (the Engavagen) which were not included with the frame and I haven’t been able to find for purchase. It wouldn’t be such a big deal BUT 2. the slats on the bed are not even — they slope downward toward the sides of the frame, which seems weird. I tried turning things around, etc, thinking I had got it wrong but to no avail. And 3. The full size mattress I purchased doesn’t fit inside the full size bedframe. So the mattress rests on top of the frame, meaning the edges of the mattress sit higher than the rest of it. Maybe this is what the Engagaven is meant to help prevent? If so, how can I purchase it????? These three things are a real bummer because I am otherwise very happy with the bed frame!2
Very SturdyhejjjDespite having to go back to ikea twice because I forgot some missing parts, this bed frame is very sturdy and I know it’ll last for years to come! But like every other ikea product this particular frame wasn’t as difficult to assemble. When picking up parts in the self serve section, don’t forget to pick up the legs, SULTAN(metal leg that supports the middle of bed) and the fabric lining as none of these are included in the box. The instruction book also Illustrates an ENGAVAGEN(thin box springs) after entire bed is completed. This is also not included in the box. A very nice ikea employee said this was optional(I disagree). I have slept on the completed bed and without the engavagen the middle of your mattress will sink in and you will not feel leveled and this will cause backaches. I now have to make a third trip to a different ikea because this was not in stock at the one I went too. My tip is to first find out if your local ikea has all the parts in stock before spending all your sweet time there and going home with missing parts, like I did. Put in work and be patient!5
Missing parts, epic failIdontwantanicknameWhile this is a very sturdy frame and easy to assemble, I am very annoyed and giving it a one star review because it is not complete. You don't find out until assembly that you are missing the Engavagen spring core inserts, which are mentioned nowhere in the store display or on the Espevar page - nowhere except the other negative reviews, which I somehow missed, as I was focused on the comments about the previously missing Sultan leg, which is now included, thanks, but this platform is still not complete. Now I have to fight traffic and go back to the vertigo-inducing maze and look for the missing parts- and pay ANOTHER $120.00 plus tax apparently so I can lay the mattress down on the platform. My affordable IKEA bed is now anything but. If I would have priced this in, I could have gotten a basic frame and box spring cheaper and easier from any mattress company. If I had more time to waste, I'd take it all apart and lug it back to the store. Thanks, IKEA.1
HmmmmmjazzyknickersSo the thing was easy to put together, it's strong and sturdy, but as one other review said, it's missing the spring core inserts. I don't see where to buy these on the IKEA site. The mattress on top doesn't fit right without these. Weighs a ton. Mine also delivered without the legs and I had to go to IKEA to buy new legs. Need to call them.3
Did not include everything needed for assemblyAm1001I just assembled this up to step 20, only to find that while this item includes the legs and cover, does not include the spring mattress item engavagen and therefore I cannot complete the assembly or sleep on this bed until ordering those parts separately and at additional cost. Disappointing! When it does arrive it should be fine but I didn't budget for this additional expense. Worst bit is that I now can't sleep on my bed for another week till the parts arrive.1
Solid and easy assembly!!!!Destroato451Completely blown away by build time and quality A+5

Material

What is cotton?

Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibers. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.
