Terrible mounting SystemAshley O.I have two unsightly holes in my wall because of these. I love the look of the shelves, but these are literally impossible to mount! I bought the longer ones and they were easy to mount due to the hardware that came with them. However these shorter shelves have two keyholes that are IMPOSSIBLE to mount. I literally had to give up after an hour of trying. I do not recommend these unless you have a professional install them or find a way to change the hardware.1
FLOATING SHELFJeanetteThought for the price it was exactly what I would expect5
GreatStephanieThey are wonderful and totally worth the drive to get them. Easy to install and they have a good selection of sizes and colors.5
SleekBarbaraVery easy to put up. Has a sleek appearance and very sturdy5
Small version poor mounting systemMaureenI have had many of the larger lack floating shelves and they are great. Those have (or at least had) a mounting bar that you attached to the wall and then slid shelf onto. I bought 4 of the smallest Lack shelves and they only have 2 keyhole plates to mount. After spending hours trying to get the screws at just the right depth and location I gave up. If the screws are placed in a way that they fit the keyholes the shelves were not tight enough to be stable, a quarter twist on the screws and now they no longer are out far enough to grab the keyhole. Not a well engineered mounting system so I returned and made my own.2
Inexcusably Poor Mount Design & Lack of HardwareAaron H.First, the product does not contain mounting hardware. This is somewhat understandable given the price point, but the design of the brackets is incompatible with drywall anchors. Drywall anchors require screws to be completely screwed in, while this mounting system requires the screw heads to be left about 3/8" clear of the wall face. I've purchased well over a dozen large pieces of furniture from IKEA, and this is the first time I've ever had an issue. I never understood the stereotype about furniture being difficult to assemble until trying to mount this little shelf. This product is the worst I've ever purchased from IKEA by a country mile. Steer clear.1
Fit perfect!LaShawndaJust what I was looking for! Worked great.5
Beware, 11-3/4" long shelf has a terrible mounting systemBayard G.I bought two 11-3/4" long shelves because i liked the 43" one I bought a few years go. Unfortunately the 11-3/4" one has a terrible mounting system, unlike the excellent brackets of the longer shelves. It requires precise placement of hollow wall anchors which is difficult to achieve, and you have to leave the anchor screw heads protruding for the little V-slots in the little mounting plates to catch. Unfortunately, hollow wall anchors are designed for their screws to be completely screwed in tight in order to expand or pull the internal part of the anchor tightly to the backside of the wallboard. Otherwise, the anchors will be loose and even pull out, leaving a messy hole. I will make a secure bracket with some simple steel plates but that is extra expense and time.2
Horrible experience.Samantha H.I’ve tried everything to get these up on the wall and they’re impossible. Every shelf’s brackets are a different measurement apart. Out of the 4 I bought not one was the same. So that’s a hassle. There’s only one out of the four shelves that hung properly after leveling and measuring. I wish I could return them but I bought them awhile ago. I’m beyond frustrated. Do not waste your money.1

No mounting screws. Bad brackets. I"d look elsewhere.Matthew B.I'll preface by saying I'm not a professional handy man but i'm certainly no dummy with this stuff either. These shelves have given me such a headache compared to similar products from other brands. THEY DO NOT COME WITH SCREWS AND ANCHORS. Fair enough Ikea. Different walls have different needs, but at least make that crystal clear when people are purchasing. One would expect everything needed for drywall installation to be included. Baseline. So once I realized they were not included, I went to the hardware store, grabbed some basic screws and anchors and installed them into my wall. While trying to fit the shelf to the screws I realized the large part of the opening on the bracket is too narrow to fit around the (standard screws I purchased. I was able to get one on, but wasn't able to get it off. Ended up tearing a massive whole in my wall to get it out. I'm unhappy. The shelf itself is as expected but the brackets suck. Bad product, poor communication. Do better, Ikea.2
Will be returning.Eric C.Shelf doesn’t hold more than half a pound. Front part of shelf sags down even when mounted with heavy duty dry wall anchors. I’ll be returning for sure as there is nothing that weighs light enough to put on them accept maybe 1 single spoon. Or a fork. Definitely not a butter knife.1
The Lack does not lackDELICIAIncredible value for the price . Used several to display my handbags in my closet5
Love it!MatthewOnly suggestion would be for IKEA to add screws and anchors with it.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light and resource-efficient, yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
