Looks great, was able toMICHELELooks great, was able to create the same look for far less money it would have costed for a piece made by a cabinetry company. And I think it turned out perfectly underneath the flatscreen tv.5
Nice but could be so much betterKrisThis is a great little unit but the holes for the screws are too small. It's one thing to have a tight fit but these are just too small. It's near impossible to get the screws to go all the way in as the screws themselves are so poor that after 1 or 2 turns the top is completely gone and you cannot get the screwdriver to get a grip on it. I put the same screws into a different item and they went in no problem. This item... a nightmare. After 9 BESTA pieces my sister and I were beyond irratated with IKEA. I wasn't sure why people complained so much about putting IKEA funiture together (as this was my first time purchasing). Now I know. Some of it is just poorly constructed. I expect more IKEA. I mean, I at least expect it to be built to actually go together. Once you get these together (if you do) they work great.3

BestaBOBBIEI love the look, but I have not yet put this together because I'm waiting for all the parts to come it. I need the TV unit and the doors for this box.4

Love it!KellySuper simple to put together. Very sturdy. Wood composite is beautiful and durable for everyday use.5
Horrible structureJEANIAWould not recommend this product. Hinge broke first day. Doors do not align properly. Planning to return.1
Display CabinetJohnExcellent cabinet for display of your favorite China and dinner plates. Adding LED lights to each compartment further enhances. Switching the bottom door to an all black one instead of the brown- black one is also our idea of an option that we preferred . We purchased two and screwed them together to make an awesome unit that everyone enjoys.5
Classy FinishTERESAI purchased this vertical unit to go with the horizontal besta breakfast buffet I purchased. While the two look smashing together, this vertical unit was not as sturdy as the horizontal one. Yes, weird but true. We had to put a leg on the side behind the unit to stabilize it. You can’t see the correction we made and it is holding lovely, but it was unfortunate we had to do that. My husband is a true pro on putting these ikea pieces together but he said ikea should have used a solid hard wood back panel like the frame so it could be sturdy and provide support. Otherwise great piece. The doors are beautiful and the unit conceals my brooms, mop and anything I don’t want seen.4
Perfect for media storageDarleneWe love this with the glass shelves and doors for our blu-ray collection.5
It has a simple designLESLIEIt has a simple design but is very functional..5

poor qualitydavid h.I was impressed with the sturdiness of SECTION cabinets so I bought this with accompanying glass door thinking it would be comparable in quality to SECTION. I'm disappointed to say BESTA is several steps down in quality from SECTION. First the cabinet, after assembly, is wobbly. Second the way hinges attach to the cabinet is not sturdy enough for the weight of glass door so the glass door droops down and hits the floor. I had also bought legs but obviously I can't put the legs on because then the door will droop even lower. I've tried mounting the door on the other side of the cabinet with the same result. The cause is the way hinges screw directly on to cabinet and the poor quality of the cabinet material combined with the weight of the door. I'm disappointed with the quality of this cabinet/glass-door combination.2
Has gone down in qualityBriannaNot like the old Besta units! I have a Besta tv unit I have had for over 7 years looks brand new even after multiple moves. Straight out of the box these were bubbles with chipped veneer, glue coming out of the seams and doesn't fit together like the older ones did.2
BestaRiikkaWe do have the besta system all over the house since 11 years. We moved several times with it and is still in good shape. Such a classic, universal shelf you can rearrange easily. We love it!5

Smart and functionalJanessaWe love using Bestas for various purposes around our house. We have six different sets and they are look different enough that it works. When buying this most-recent set in the grey wood color, we decided to leave one portion open for display. When assembling, you have to insert the shelves differently for the open portions so they line up better against the rest of the unit. It just reiterated how intuitive IKEA is and we appreciate how polished it makes the final product look.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is constructed board?

We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light and resource-efficient, yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fiberboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
