Nostalgia!RebecaI had one of these at the desk in my childhood room growing up in Sweden back in the 90's.
I remember the rim would get super hot towards the end of the night and I burnt my hand on it on multiple occasions. For the 18 years I lived with my parents, that lamp never had an issue and never had to be replaced.
Worked great from hand shadow play all the way to last minute college studies.
The updated design is certainly sleeker and I'll be using a low energy LED bulb so I don't have to worry about burning my hand.
I love that I can clamp it wherever I want.
Hoping I get to enjoy this one at for at least a decade!5

Mixed feelings....SusanI love the light, just don't love the springs! I have attached this to my desk where I do small work. It works great if you don't ever move it. I've only had it a short time and the springs are already not holding the light in place. The light will move on it's own, by that I mean if I have it down it will rise or drop depending on where it's sitting. When I can get it to stay in one place it's a nice lamp3

Possibly the best crane lamp you can buyAlexander2121I was searching for a crane lamp for my drafting table, and dismissed this one based on its price. After hours of research and 2 returned crane lamps from other sources, I just went ahead and bought the IKEA one. It is a fantastic unit and a ridiculous value. I only have two complaints: one is that the base/mount may or may not be strong enough to keep the lamp in place. If your table is titled for instance, you will probably need to buy a better mount like I did. My second complaint is, what is with the revision? They had the switch on the head of the lamp before, and now they have moved it to the base of the lamp— you have to litterally reach behind the lamp to turn it on, very inconvenient and a strange alteration. I’m now considering a smart bulb because of this. But overall, this lamp can’t be beat for the price and even for lamps costing 3 to 4x as much.5

A slight touch to move it away, it moves and stays put. Fold it back up to tuck it away, it STAYS! Easily the best lamp I've ever owned. The best part... It was $9.99 in IKEA!!5
