Kitchen cabinets are great qualitySteveGreat quality. Simple to build and hang. Very happy with IKEA cabinet systems.5
We recently replaced our kitchenAlanWe recently replaced our kitchen cabinets and countertops with IKEA Bodbyn grey cabinets and quartz countertops. We assembled and installed cabinets ourselves and Saxum Stone through IKEA supplied and installed the quartz tops. We couldnt be happier with our kitchen. It is beautiful. The cabinets were shipped unassembled and came to us in several shipments because of the material shortages but all was packaged very well and we had absolutely no damage. and nothing missingThat is almost unheard of now. IKEA offers a very wide range of choices and the cabinet sales staff were extremely helpful in making sure we got exactly what we wanted. It was a very good experience over all and I would suggest anyone to check out IKEA before you buy kitchen cabinets. If you don’t mind assembling them yourself, which IKEA makes very manageable They may have exactly what you are looking for and you will probably save a chunk of cash. We saved anywhere between $4500 to $ 9000 over other quotes ( just for cabinets no installation quoted)and sacrificed nothing5
Great styleElizabeth S.I bought this door but also eleven cabinets with various drawers and doors and shelves. Over the years my husband and I have used the IKEA cabinets and the bodbyn doors or drawer front for three kitchens. This will be the fourth. So yes. We like it.5

Love these doors and drawersRalphThese doors and drawers were so easy to install, and the hinges easy to adjust. It was so easy to put the perfect touch on our cabinet project. Looks like a pro did it.5
Install your own kitchen? Think again.JohnThe cabinets are easy to assemble. The quality is just ok, the back of the cabinet is very cheap quality and likely to wear quickly. Installing these units is very difficult as there are only two attachment points which greatly limits the ability to make secure contact with your wall studs. This is true even if you use the extra cost mounting system. IKEAs terrible supply issues makes obtaining the parts you need very difficult. We have been waiting for months for parts to get in stock. If you don’t own a large van or pickup truck don’t bother with these units As ikea won’t deliver these units. You can’t even purchase online and arrange for pickup at an ikea location, you are forced to just go to the store and hope that they have the parts you need. Once you do get to the store plan on waiting at least four hours waiting in line to order your parts, waiting in line to pay for your parts and waiting for your order to be ready to take home. The additional bonus is that everyone working in the store is absolutely miserable - I don’t know what ikea is doing to their employees but it isn’t good.2
IKEA kitchenKristen F.We like the ikea kitchens. This is the 3rd time we’ve used them but the 1st time we’ve used the gray cabinets. Not disappointed thus far!5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fiberboard?

Fiberboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are – and this determines what we use them for. So regardless if it’s a bed, a wardrobe or your new bathroom cabinet, the leftover wooden fiber becomes a resource instead of going to waste.
