Adds cushion to firm mattressMarieThis is perfect for what we wanted. We have an aging, but still very firm mattress. Since we are also aging, we needed some more ‘give’, and with this, we don’t need to buy a whole new mattress set. Was worried initially that it has no straps to keep it in place, but it’s heavy enough (and when placed on a normal fabric mattress/pad as opposed to a plastic covered dorm mattress that is raised and you have to scootch down from instead of step out of) it stays in place. Not super soft, just enough give to sink in a little and be comfortable without losing support. Love that it has a zip off cover as well. No weird smell, flattened after opening in a few hours. One environmental note-a lot of plastic in the packaging, it’s covered in plastic first and then rolled up. Only improvement would be if they would roll it first and just wrap the outside in less plastic.5
Smelled like Peanut Butter Banana SandwichBenjamin C.This is a very comfy mattress topper, however when I opened it and took it out of the packaging, I was hit with an overwhelming odor that smelled like peanut butter banana sandwiches (I wish I was kidding). It was very strong and flooded the room. It even made me feel slightly sick to my stomach.2
