Make a difference in the lives of seniors and their pets!

Research shows the most serious disease for older persons is not cancer or heart disease – it’s loneliness. Pets offer affection, unconditional love, fight loneliness, and can help ease the loss of a loved one.

Through April 30, we will be making dog and cat toys for seniors to be distributed through Meals on Wheels. For many homebound seniors, social contact is limited and often their only daily interaction is the companionship of their pets. Pets are a vital resource for providing seniors with social interaction and helping combat loneliness.

This craft is also a great way to promote recycling by using your scrap fabric. Just think about how dogs and cats like to play and create something fun! There’s a bin in the entrance lobby of IKEA Bolingbrook to drop off your completed toys.
