Plant-based goodness

Unsustainable consumption and climate change remain some of the biggest challenges for humanity. We want to make healthier and more sustainable living easy. But it’s more than just offering smarter products – we want to create a movement for a better, more sustainable everyday life.

At IKEA we will never compromise on food quality and always aim to offer options that are tasty, affordable, nutritionally balanced and more sustainable. That’s why we’ve challenged ourselves to create a range of flavor-packed plant-based foods like the veggie balls and veggie hot dog we serve in our Restaurants and Bistros, but also products that you can take home like KORVMOJ veggie hot dog made from carrots, lentils and kale, MUNSBIT fruit snacks, nut mixes and oat smoothies and SJÖRAPPORT vegan caviar made from seaweed pearls. Because food should not only be good for you, it should also be good for the planet.

Get the veggie ball rolling on reducing your carbon footprint.

Few things are as synonymous with IKEA as the Swedish meatball. It’s as much part of our heritage as our most iconic pieces of furniture. In our efforts to create products that make it easier for you to make better and more sustainable everyday choices, we were determined to create a delicious alternative to the traditional meatball. Now it's here.

But why a meatball without meat? Well, plant-based foods need less resources, less water and less land to feed just as many. Producing a veggie ball makes a carbon footprint that's 20 times smaller compared to when producing a traditional meatball. So, surprise your taste buds and try the veggie balls next time you visit our IKEA Restaurant or IKEA Bistro.
